Chennai Public School, Thirumazhisai celebrated its Annual Sports Meet recently at its sprawling Global Education Campus. The Sports Meet was declared open by the Chief Guest Mrs. Renukalakshmi, Joint Secretary, Hockey India and General Secretary, Hockey unit of Tamil Nadu. She was welcomed by the Principal, Mrs. Subhashini  Govindan and felicitated by our Correspondent  Mr. Balaji Dagupati.

The march past of the four Houses  Alphard, Canopus, Plasma & Diadem was led by the House Captains and the Council Member team by  Head Boy Mast. Akash G. The athletic events set the tracks ablaze. The four Houses vied with each other in a bid to clinch the top spot. Canopus House won the overall championship trophy and Plasma House, the runners up. The rolling trophy for the best marching contingent went to Canopus House.The cultural events added a dash of colour and sound to the occasion. From the rambunctious zumba dance and frolicsome pattern formations, to the sombre yogasanas, the children proved yet again that sports was a twinning of not just athletic prowess but also art.  The teeny weeny tiny tot’s aerobics performance, ribbon dance and fabric design formation were a feast to the eyes. The culturals were followed by prize distribution which brought immense excitement among students & parents equally. A total of 1500 students took part in the Meet and around 2000 spectators witnessed the grand event. 500 individual medals and certificates were awarded to the winners. 14 students got individual championship for track and field events.

Waterford Early Learning Resource Centre enriched to master the foundation skills among early learners of K- 2  was inaugurated at Chennai Public School, Thirumazhisai recently. CPS believes that every child deserves a great start and that this interactive educational approach with advanced technologies provides a rich multimedia learning in English reading, Math & Science. The innovative continuum of instruction delivers an unmatched breadth and depth of curriculum in a personalized learning environment. It is tailored to each student’s reading level with proper assessment system to benefit their overall academic development as well as cognitive thinking power.

In the inaugural address, Balaji Dagupati, CEO and Correspondent of CPS Schools Group, said “U.S. Waterford curriculum support students through a well-developed sequence of learning objectives. Frequent assessment allows the program to adapt to each student’s level of mastery. Not only that students also gain a love for learning in an atmosphere rich in music and animation”.

After inauguration, students of UKG and Mont-III along with their parents had a feel of English reading, worked on Math solutions and experienced Science concepts with the help of the two characters, Rusty and Rosy.

The much awaited Annual Sports Meet’16 of Chennai Public School, Anna Nagar was held on 28th January 2017 at Global Educational Campus, Thirumazhisai upholding the aspects of sportsmanship and camaraderie through the various sporting events. Students entered into the spirit of the occasion with the prayer song followed by the welcome address by the Principal Mrs. Asha Nathan. Mr. K.T. Muraleedharan, the Director & Founder of Dolphin Swimming academy, and Mrs. A.R. Rani Muraleedharan, Head Coach Dolphin Swimming academy graced the occasion and was felicated by Shri N Devarajan, Chairman CPS Group of schools.
The hoisting of the national flag, the Olympic flag and the school flag by the Chief Guest, the Special Guest and our Correspondent Mr. Balaji Dagupati squalled the start of the Sports Meet and was officially declared open with the release of pigeons and balloons by the Chief Guest. The mesmerizing performance of CPS warriors on the Mallakhamb, the exceptional exhibition of Yogic postures on the nail bed, egg tray, pots etc., and the unique display of aerobic exercises and pyramid kept the spectators spell bound.
Prizes for the recipient of Dhyanchand and Abhinav Bhindra Award and various other competitors were given away by the Chief Guest.
The fantastic turn out of parents and the pleasant weather were perfect boost for the participants.
