CPS Thirumazhisai – Sciland

The Pre-primary department of Chennai Public School, Thirumazhisai conducted a virtual science exhibition – “SCILAND” recently wherein the students showcased static and working models on various scientific concepts. The objective was to involve students in understanding the cognitive and affective aspects of science, in order that they develop the quality of analytical & critical thinking. The tiny tots demonstrated their amazing skills on the virtual platform and enlightened every audience.

CPS Thirumazhisai – CIENCIA 2021

National Science Day is celebrated on 28th February to honor the great Indian Physicist and Nobel laureate, Sir. C V Raman. To commemorate this, the Department of Science, Chennai Public School, Thirumazhisai conducted CIENCIA 2021 for classes I to VIII on 1st & 2nd of March 2021.

Classes I & II, “Wacky Science Show” was held  that signifies hands-on experiments. The show witnessed children coming up with wonderful science models & explanations, kindling spark of joy among the students. The judges interacted with the children and offered insights to sharpen their scientific and logical thinking.

Students of Classes III to V presented their project on global warming,  the reduction of global warming due to COVID-19 was also highlighted. Three students Runit Laishram, Nekkanti Snigdha of Class V & Kaveesh V from Class IV gave innovative solutions for this global problem through models of a Smart City, an Eco village and also a machine designed to control CO2 emissions. An interactive quiz competition -“GOCONQR” was conducted where not only did the students take away nuggets of information but also experienced a fun way of learning science. Kanishka Prabhu of Class V gave a speech on sustainable Development Goals – Quality education for children and Krichnadev of Class V gave a speech on Clean Water & Sanitation which was informative and well presented.  Classes VI to VIII started the program with a speech on Sir C V Raman’s contribution to the field of science presented by Aishwarya N of class 8. The highlight of the program were the videos presented by students demonstrating the different experiments done by them on various science concepts, serving as a platform for experiential learning for students.

CPS Thirumazhisai – Digifest 2020-2021

The Primary Department of Chennai Public School, Thirumazhisai celebrated “DIGIFEST”, a virtual event for the tiny tots of Grade I and II recently.  Students built their own robot using Lego blocks which is the most creative way to express their talents. The judges thoroughly enjoyed interacting with the kids. The creative effort of Students, involvement of parents and the enthusiasm of judges made DIGIFEST an event to be cherished.

CPS Thirumazhisai – SDG Collaboration Program

When there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved. Keeping this in mind to enhance the critical thinking and awareness of students the Primary & Pre-primary dept of Chennai Public School, Thirumazhisai collaborated with Sunrise English Private School, Abu Dhabi, UAE & Shinning Star International School, Abu Dhabi, UAE respectively to address on the current issue the whole world is facing; Global Warming “Goal no: 9 & Goal no: 14” to find innovative solutions to climate change.

Our students of class IV & V explained about the SDG – 9; greenhouse gases and global warming, its causes & effects. They also came up with innovative solutions to control the climatic changes & control CO2 emission like recycling ideas, vertical gardening, smart cities, usage of electric vehicles, using renewable resources etc. Followed by this they had an interactive session with exchange of quiz among both.

It was a visual treat when the tiny tots of age group 3 to 5 performed brilliantly on virtual platform, depicting the theme SDG-14 -“Life below water”.  The live presentation done by the students were given special appreciation where the students exposed their utmost talent and strongly emphasizing on SDG-14 to conserve the ocean life. The magnificent speech and alluring beauty of the little once made everyone delightful.

 The advantages of the collaborative projects are they can express more creativity & innovation. This was truly a new and enriching experience for the students & developed an awareness to protect the environment. Kudos to the students of both the schools.
