“A house is built with walls and beams; a home is built with love and dreams”
The tiny tots of CPS Pre Primary learnt about the importance of a house, different rooms in a house and different types of houses. Learning about the house, sitting in their own house with their friends virtually was great fun for the kids. They went for a quick visit into all the rooms in their house and expressed about their daily activities in each room with their peer group. Children related the type of house they live in when they were introduced about the different types of houses. They had utmost joy making a paper house themselves, drawing the doors and windows and giving beautiful patterns to the roof. Children proudly showed their colourful paper house to their friends with great happiness and contentment.
Co-curricular activities play a vital role in the present system of education. Every person has a creative side and it can be expressed in many ways. CCA projects reflect the inherent talents of a student. Be it a painting or posters or any other such pursuits it is the child’s intrinsic feelings that is depicted there.
The Social Science Department of Chennai Public School proudly presents before you“ UNVEILING MYSTERIES “
This pandemic has forced every one of us to stay inside the house and has suspended all Get together, meetings etc., But the children of PP2 at CPS had a fun-filled session of introducing their family members to their peers virtually.
The Event “KITH & KIN ” brought the most awaited opportunity for each little one to proudly present the family photos to their friends and introduce the family members. Few kids introduced their parents the way they call them in their mother tongue, which added a personal touch to the event.Children created a “Family Tree” sticking the photographs of their family members and happily shared few things they like to do together with their family. The children’s love towards their pets at home was very beautifully proven when a child came up with her puppy’s photo to stick in her family tree, as she always believed that her puppy is also a member of her family.
Overall, the kids had great fun introducing and talking about their family members and learnt about the difference between the type of families.
Language is power, life and the instrument of culture, the instrument of domination and liberation-Angela CarterTamil, a classical language and one of the major languages of the Dravidian language family is the eighteenth most spoken language, with over 74 million speakers worldwide. Furthermore, Tamil is also one of the few living classical languages that has an unbroken literary tradition of over two millennia. In order to outstretch the heritage and importance of this incredible language to this modern era, we at CPS have approached the students through the virtual platform with a series of fun filled activities across classes 3, 4 and 5. Class 3 had their competition “Kathaikelu Kathaikelu – Aathichudi” where the students had to take on an Aathichudi verse and illustrate it in the form of storytelling, poem, drawing, dance and puppet show. These activities helped reluctant speakers to melt away their trepidation. The Class 4 students had “Uthirum Vaarthaikal, ”where the student could choose any form to express a moral story such as storytelling, poem, drawing, dance and puppet show. The freedom to play with words helped the students to build their vocabulary. “Chevikku Virundhu”, the competition where class 5 students had to narrate a story or sing a song based on a Thirukkural verse. The competition encouraged the students and provided them an opportunity to showcase their language skills. The motive of organizing these events is to raise the students morale and build their confidence through these artistic tools.
True to its name, ‘Enthral-Eng’, the English CCA certainly did bestow upon the students of classes 6-8, the enthralling recognition that one lives in a boundless universe where the unfathomable power of the mind constantly rides on the wings of creativity to give shape to novel ideas. Each level of students were assigned topics that helped students embark on a journey to pierce the mundane, explore realms of possibilities and discover astounding potentials. Indeed, it was undoubtedly a portrayal of evolutionary learning at its best.

Equipped with his five senses, man explores the universe around him and calls the adventure Science….
Upholding the above quote, the tiny tots of CPS Pre Primary explored their universe this week, learning about the five sense organs. It was the sense of taste that was experienced by our kids this week. All were set ready to relish the five basic tastes like salty, sour, bitter, spicy and sweet. Children were excited to taste them one by one. The expressions they gave for each taste was a visual treat. Parents were equally thrilled and happy to see their kids’ reactions. Through this activity, children became aware of and had the opportunity to experience the basic tastes through one of the important sense organs- TONGUE. Children thoroughly relished this activity.
