CPS Thirumazhisai – Festival of Lights

Diwali is the festival of lights which is celebrated in various regions across India. The name Diwali literally means an array of lights. To make the students understand the importance of Diwali and its safety precautions, the pre-primary department of the Chennai Public School Thirumazhisai had a celebration in school. He preprimary wing is decorated with lights, diyas , lanterns, and paper crackers from eco-friendly products. The children were taught on the importance of Diwali and the precautions to be taken during the festival. Diwali spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, and hope over despair. The children decorated diyas with colors and glitter,  popsicles with stars and glitter denoting rocket crackers. The children talked about what they and their families planned to do in celebrations. The tiny tots also enacted the story of Rama and Sita with the guidance of teachers. The students are also encouraged to do a role play on safety during Diwali. Both teachers and students enjoyed the Diwali celebration wholeheartedly.
