“In cartography, as in medicine, art and science are inseparable. The perfect map blends art and science into an effective tool of visual communication.”  Dr. Keith Harries

GPS or Google Maps, Atlas or Travel Guide, the base of everything is a well sketched ‘Map’.

The largest organisations in the field of cartography, The Indian Cartographic Association organised an online quiz on ‘Digital Cartography to harness Blue Economy’ recently. With over 10,000 student participants from 700 schools across India, H.R. Kanish of class X, Chennai Public School, Anna Nagar stood second bringing laurels to entire South India.

Kanish was later invited to Dehradun where Governor of Uttarakhand His Excellency Lt Gen. Gurmit Singh presented his award. During his interview with Doordarshan, Kanish spoke about the secret behind his success and said, “Regular preparation for over a month on topo sheet interpretation and satellite imagery. Going through supplementary material and questionnaires proved to be of great help.”

Hearty Congratulations to our Young Cartographer Kanish.
