Scientastic Jour, a science expo done by Grade 1 and 2 of Chennai Public School, Thirumazhsai, centering on “Science, Society, and Environment,” offered a platform for young minds to explore and present their understanding of the interconnectedness between science, society, and the environment.
Students showcased simple experiments illustrating the applications of the properties of air in daily life, emphasizing the connection between science and everyday experiences. Among the exhibits were colourful presentations and drawings conveying the students’ awareness of climate change; linking scientific concepts to the broader societal impact and the need for environmental conservation. Other engaging displays highlighted the importance of water conservation, connecting science to societal responsibility, and encouraging environmentally conscious practices. Some presentations addressed different types of pollution, emphasizing the societal impact of pollution and proposing eco-friendly solutions. Imaginative scenarios highlighted potential future threats to the Earth, underlining the role of science, not only in preparing society for these challenges, but also in mitigating them. Also on display were delightful presentations that delved into traditional remedies, connecting science to societal well-being by promoting the use of natural ingredients for homemade medicines.
The Science Expo by Grade 1 and 2 students under the theme “Science, Society, and Environment” evidenced the students’ grasp of the link between scientific principles, societal issues, and environmental concerns. The event not only fostered scientific curiosity in the young minds, but also instilled a sense of responsibility towards society and the environment.
